There are restrictions on some library items which mean they cannot be borrowed, or any borrowing is limited:

Reference Collection

The Reference Collection contains general reference books, such as dictionaries, encyclopedias and directories as well as some statistical reference material. Reference items have red spine labels. Many reference titles are also available in electronic format.

Textbook Collection

These books are not for loan and have grey spine labels.

Desk Reference Collection

The Desk Reference Collection contains out of print books and photocopies. These can be borrowed; please ask at the Library Desk.

High Demand Collection

High Demand is a collection of heavily requested items. These items can be borrowed for a period of two hours. Ask at the Library Desk for further details.

Theses Collection

The Library has a collection of selected student theses available in hard copy. They are kept behind the Issue Desk and may be borrowed within the Library. All theses are listed on the Library Catalogue, and a growing number is available on UBIR, the University of Bolton Institutional Repository.

Journals Collection

All print journals in the Library are for reference only. However, you can photocopy articles from them, and we have many, more titles available electronically too.
